Only ZD1 and ZD2 show up on the >system 6 desktop (the first 2 partitions) Do you have the RamFAST driver installed in *:System:Drivers? If not, go into the RamFAST control panel, turn on the ROM disk, copy the driver by dragging it from the ROM disk onto your System folder, and then rebooting. Now turn off the ROM disk. All your partitions should show up, plus the drive will run faster. > >I have tried to remap the last partition a few times, but it will not show >itself on the desktop, even though PRODOS 8 recognizes the partitions as >drives just fine. > It will only see 2 paritions without the special driver. > >I would like to partition the drive to have 1 30 megabyte section for IIe, >and the rest for the IIgs. > >How do I go about doing this? > Make sure the HFS FST is installed (Use System 6 custom install script by booting the Install disk) and also install the Advanced Disk Utilities. Run the Advanced Disk Utilities program and partition the Zip disk in a 30/70 fraction (two partitions). Reboot. From the Finder, format parition1 using ProDOS. From the Finder, when the Finder asks to format partition2, select HFS and format. > >I also have a Focus IDE card. How do I go about formatting this? > Using the Focus Formatter (an ADU clone). If you don't have a copy, look for it at http://www.allelec.com/ (Alltech's web site). > >Do I need FST program? I know that IIe supports only 32 meg drives, but >the IIgs will accept bigger. HFS handles 70MB partitions fine and without error, even unpatched. Remember to back up your HFS volumes, as there are no GS based utilities. If you want the HFS volume to show up on a Mac also, use SysEx, a program from ground, to extract the Mac driver from ADU's resource fork before running ADU. -Scott G.
