This program converts in all directions between:
- STM, Gus, ApplePC (dos order
or ".dsk" and ".do" disks)
- ][ in a Mac (prodos order or ".po" disks)
- Copy ][+ image (".img" files)
Yes, this will allow you to take any .dsk file and turn it into a real floppy
image. (finally!!)
Requirements:
Mac with System 7 and PC Exchange
If you just want to convert between STM and ][ in a Mac all you need is
the program.
If you want to make disk images you need:
Apple ][ with both 3.5" and 5.25" drives
Copy2Plus.image.sit.hqx
(48k) (version 7.1)
You can also get Copy][+ in .dsk format, but then, you've got the chicken
vs. egg problem. Well, if you want to solve that, here is a link to it on
Asimov. Copy
][+ 7.1
To convert an image:
- drag it onto ImageConverter
- choose a new format, click "OK"
voala! look in the finder where your disk image was, there will be another
one there in the new format!
To make a new disk image from a floppy:
- run Copy ][+
- format a 3.5 disk ProDOS
- copy->disk->5.25->3.5
- give the image a name. CTP will then copy the 5.25 disk onto an image
on the ProDOS 3.5
- bring the 3.5 disk to your mac, stick it in, watch it mount
- drag the CTP image to your hard disk
- drag it onto ImageConvert
- choose your format (STM or ][ in a Mac)
voala! look in the finder where your disk image was, there will be another
one there in the new format!
To make a real floppy from an existing disk
image:
- drag the image onto ImageConverter, choose "Copy ][+"
- there will now be a file called "xxx.img" (xxx is the name
of the orig image)
- and it should have a plain document icon, this is your Copy ][+ image.
- format a 3.5 disk ProDOS and drag the "xxx.img" onto it
- bring the 3.5 disk to your Apple ][ and stick it in
- run Copy][+
- copy->disk->3.5->5.25
- choose the "xxx.image"
voala! reboot with your new 5.25 floppy!
To mount your ProDOS disk images in the finder:
- use ImageConverter to convert the disk to "][ in a Mac"
(ProDOS order) format
- change the type of this new file to 'hdrv' (you can use Flipper)
- drag the image onto "DropDisk"
or otherwise mount the image.
Considerations:
Disk images need to have the right type to be recognized by ImageConverter.
- ".po" disks must have 'DISK' type
- ".do" disks must have 'DSK5' type
if you download some disk image, and it does not have the correct type,
you must change it before ImageConverter will recognize it. (use resedit
or Flipper or somesuch)
don't worry about Copy][+ images, they should always have the right type
anyway.
