Transferring Graphics Between Apple IIGS and Macintosh Computers. Bob L. Allen Eat-A-Bug Software 22916 Via Pimiento Mission Viejo, CA 92691 inCider magazine carried my letter about sharing peripherals and graphics in the May 1990 issue. Since that issue hit the stands I have been receiving about four letters every day asking for a copy of my directions. Apparently I struck onto a hot topic! The text describing graphics transfers was written by me and submitted to my local user group, the Orange Apple Computer Club, 25422 Trabuco Road, Building 105, Suite 251, El Toro, CA 92630. The article was broken into three installments and is included herein in the same form. Bundled within this package is a copy of the transfer directions and the Apple II software needed to transfer graphics between the Apple IIGS and Macintosh computers. Unless you know what you are doing, the Macintosh software (uploaded in a different file) should be downloaded onto a Mac (not an Apple II) because the translation through the AFE changes the filetypes of the Macintosh programs. If you decide to download the Mac software with your Apple II, here are brief directions: 1. Download the Mac software onto a ProDOS disk. 2. Transfer it from the ProDOS disk onto a Mac disk using AFE. 3. Next, use a Mac filetype changing utility (ResEdit, Desk Zap, Disk Top, etc.) to change the filetypes of the applications from "06 " (that's zero-six-space-space) to "APPL" or "TEXT". 4. Finally, try to run them from the Mac Finder. If you cannot get them to run, then repeat step #2 and change their filetype to something that you haven't tried (either "APPL" or "TEXT"), then try to run them again. 5. If all else fails, download the Mac software with a Mac! Please follow the directions for the graphics transfers carefully. I am busy enough with daily life, a newborn son, a full time job, and two consulting services on the side, and do not have the time or energy to answer questions about the transfer processes. Thank you for your interest in my directions. Good Luck! -Bob L. Allen :) April 26, 1990.
