Can you send me ShrinkIt 1.1? I'd like to do some tests with it. (You'll see why below.) I was able to create a hard drive image with a program whose name I forget; somebody over on comp.sys.apple2 will know. It creates a 2MG image file of the entire hard drive parition. I used it on 20MB disk partitions, and was able to boot my hard drive under KEGS. (XGS has a funny smartport issue that Kent fixed in KEGS... has to do with the weird way I boot GS/OS from ProSel-8. I can still boot P8 with XGS though, so the image is good.) >Any ideas? I know I could probably use the NuLib program, but that will >kill the address and type of my files (no?). I've just had no luck, and my disks are disintegrating I have, off and on, been working on a replacement for NuLib. I also have some rather large ShrinkIt archives that I've been trying to deal with, notably the contents of an 80MB hard drive, and NuLib just wasn't up to the task. The replacement is currently called "nulib2". There are a couple of features that are relevant for you: (1) It's written in two pieces, a library (nufxlib) and a command-line application (nulib2). This should allow a GUI interface to be developed without a whole lot of pain, and would also allow emulator authors to handle ShrinkIt-compressed disk images transparently. (2) It can extract files in a way that preserves filetypes and resource forks. See http://www.nulib.com/nulib2.txt for details. The original plan was to develop the library, nulib2 command-line app, and a Win32 GUI interface, but I'm going to be joining a small startup in a couple of weeks and my free time will mostly evaporate. The library is about 90% complete, which isn't enough for a release just yet. There are, of course, many other improvements in nulib2, but I'm trying not to ship a vaporware release. :-) -- Send mail to fadden@netcom.com (Andy McFadden) CD-Recordable FAQ - http://www.fadden.com/cdrfaq/ (a/k/a www.spies.com/~fadden) Fight Internet Spam - http://spam.abuse.net/spam/ & news.admin.net-abuse.email
