Help Offered with TWGS Manual Outline Mark from Townsville, Australia made this public offer last month, 11/20/99 concerning the TransWarp IIgs Accelerator card... I got mine second hand and only got a user manual v1.11, no software though, besides built in diagnosis in the firmware. the manual is only 26 "letter" size pages. I could possibly photocopy it and mail to you, but you may have to wait a few weeks for that. so this is the basic steps from the manual... 1. turn power off 2. remover gs cover. 3. touch power supply case to remove static (important) 4. remove any card from slot 2 (i recommend removing 2,3 & 4) 5. remove cpu at position U18 by carefully prying from each end with a screwdriver, be careful not to pry the socket ! 6. remove TWGS from anti-static bag. 7. remove foam from connector on the TWGS (was to protect pins) 8. put old cpu chip into foam and store it. 9. make sure ribbon cable is firmly seated on TWGS (note that the cable comes out of the TWGS and folds under the bottom edge, leaving the connector pins facing down) 10. insert connector into U18 on the GS aligning all pins. 11. push TWGS into slot 3. (re-install any cards you had in slot 2 or 4) 12. replace cover. to access the CDA press OA-CTRL-ESC, use the arrow keys and select TransWarp GS. You then get the following choices... Speed, Configure, Quick Self-Test, Continuous Self-Test, and About TransWarp GS. you also get the rom version number and revision. The latest GS ver 8/32S Revision 1.8S For the speed set both on for Transwarp speed. If system speed is normal, then the Transwarp speed has no effect. The actual speed wil depend on what xtal and processor you have on board. read the XTAL speed at the back of the board and divide by 4. original TWGS's were 6 or 7 MHz so the XTALS would be 24MHz or 28MHz. If your processor has a -7 then its a 7MHz. Later on if it isn't already, you way want to speed it up some more, i'm getting 10-12MHz from mine but you can get up to 14 or 16MHz, but that's a whole other story. hth, Mark Townsville, Australia. figjams@primus.com.au
