GEOS can do everything Apple II Desktop v1.1 can do and more. It can act as a "Finder" type launcher for your ProDOS programs, which is what Apple II Desktop does. However, it is also a modular OS in itself with full support for drop in drivers, fonts, and tools. The GEOS "Finder" also has the added benefit of acting like a root directory expander. Want to break ProDOS' 51 file limit for root directories? Simply use the GEOS "Finder" to copy as many files as you want to the root directory of any ProDOS disk. The extra files remain usable when accessed via regular ProDOS 8 or even GS/OS using the ProDOS FST. That's pretty neat. ;-) By the way, once a disk is expanded, you can delete files using regular ProDOS 8 and regular ProDOS 8 will allow you to put the same amount of extra files in the place of the deleted ones.
