The beeping is indeed related to the Apple High Speed SCSI card. This and other strange behaviors (flakey windows, for one) are known problems between that SCSI card and the ZIP Drive. But there is a fix, other than always having a cartridge in your ZIP Drive. As was reported in the Fall 1997 issue of Juiced.GS, the ZIP Drive/AHS SCSI problems are corrected when you use the Tulin SCSI drivers rather than the Apple-supplied SCSI drivers. (I first heard about this fix from a user on Delphi-A2, and subsequent discussions there and experiments on my GS proved it be true for me and others.) Juiced.GS also reported that Wing Cheung, a former Tulin associate, was still selling the Tulin drivers for about $20. If you're interested in the Tulin drivers, I suggest you contact Wing and ask for more info. His e-mail address (at last report) was listed as: Wing_Cheung@compuserve.com I also have a snail-mail address that I will supply to you if you need it. Send me an e-mail request. Good luck, and let us know how this all turns out. :-) Max Jones Juiced.GS http://www.wbwip.com/juiced.gs -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
