Ask a simple question... If I understand everybody correctly, the IIgs had many advantages over other systems of the day. Graphics & sound were top of the line, It actually does more w/ MHz than a PC, etc, etc. The GUI OS is apparently better than even the Mac (you'd think Apple would have kept all of the best features on their product) One person did say we can't predict exactly where the Apple II would be at this point, since there are too many factors involved. This is true, we really can't get the specifics of the system specs for a platform out of production for about a decade or so. But we can dream. We can also agree the the A2 would have continued to kick ass had Apple had the brains to continue to support it. Chances are very high that most computer out there would be Apple II's, whatever they decided to call it. Or perhaps not. The main reason for the PC's sucess was the clone market, which kept prices down. Apple would have had to not only become smart enough to back up the Apple II, but also allow A2 clones to enter the market so that the A2 could continue to hold it's market share. I could just imagine all the idiotic fruit names that clones could have used *shudder* How big a factor do you think this would be?
