This is an enhanced Apple IIe on a board to which you can connect an Apple II disk drive and monitor. This setup would let you create disk images from old software and upload them to ftp sites and/or use them on an Apple II emulator program. You would also be able to transfer downloaded disk images to diskettes your real Apple II can use. Note: One limitation on creating disk image files using the standard utility (DSK2FILE) is that the source diskette not be copy-protected. You can probably find a TrackStar E board for sale on eBay or get one from Emerald City Sales (870-743-3872; http://www.ahhz.com/ ). Prices run around $25-$35. For more information on TrackStar, check ... http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2HDWHACK.html#018 http://www.grin.net/~cturley/USA2WUG/TrackStar/ A different approach is to use a PC/Apple2 software package named ap2222pc. It will do disk image and other file transfers to/from your PC without the need for a serial card in the Apple II.
