It turns out (at least back when I got my card a few years ago) that the Second Sight has problems with some other expansion cards in the IIGS. Jawaid Bayzar had a list of them, but he left Sequential long ago. The solution was simple. There was a capacitor between two of the gold contacts on the edge connector on the card. Clip the capacitor and the Second Sight card will work. I suspect this was your problem. Unfortunately, Sequential has your card now and I'm not sure how you are going to get it back. Actually, I have an older Second Sight ROM. The newest can work with hires mode, the only mode the Second Sight does not support with earlier ROMs. But hearing the horror stories of "hostage" cards at Sequential, I've not sent mine in for a ROM swap. I don't run 8-bit software, so it is not worth the risk of losing my card.
