I installed 816 Paint on an HDV image and Open and Save worked for me.

You can add more fonts. They're just Apple IIgs bitmap fonts. My copy has
about 12 (the original six plus six of my own that I converted over from
Macintosh bitmap fonts I made using ResEdit!).
