Or you could advertise for one on comp.sys.apple2.marketplace . Practically all the info you need is in the FAQs at http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2PRINTER.html . > And a connecting lead? Here's some info found on the Umich.edu archive: ref- http://www.umich.edu/~archive/apple2/8bit/docs/proline.txt >>' You can get limited functionality from your IWII using the built-into-win95 C-Itoh 8510 driver. Just go to settings: printers: new and select the c-itoh 8510. Obviously you must connect it to a serial port, not the parallel port, and cabling might be an issue. If you don't have a crossworks cable and gender-bender, you might have to make a cable. The cabling information is in the apple Imagewriter II manual page 126, table D-5. You need an 8 pin mini-circular male connector and a DB25 female connector + 5 conductor shielded cable. Up to 20 meters should be OK, mine is 15m and works fine at 9600. cable details as follows... 8 pin 25 pin DTR 1 ------- *- 5 CTS * = jumpered together at db25 end *- 6 DSR *- 8 DCD DSR 2 --------- 20 DTR TD- 3 --------- 3 RD SG 4 -+------- 7 SG (SG= Signal Ground) RD 8 -+ + = 4&8 jumpered together at 8-pin end RD- 5 ---------- 2 TD SHIELD -- or --- SHIELD or pin 1 (PG) on DB25 end. Only one end needs to be connected to the the cable shielding. Mark. '<< The Imagewriter II manual mentioned above must be the IW-II Technical Reference Manual. (The IW-II Owner's Manual ends at page 123.) A check in the IW-II LQ Technical Reference Manual shows the setup Mark gives on page 232 (except for including pin 5 in the jumpered pins on the 25-pin connector). It seems to be the standard way of connecting Imagewriter II series printers via an RS-232 serial interface. > If of no use to me, how much are they worth in working order? .... They are too heavy to sell by mail. If you take yours to a Swap Meet or otherwise sell it locally, maybe $20 - $50. A lot depends on finding a user who wants the 'official' IIgs printer. Rubywand
