David is correct. The RTL was championed by Lou Infeld at Apple, who also implemented the original version of the Loader. It is my understanding that the loader supports RTL files. The loader was, however, heavily modified later to make it faster, and I have no idea of the people doing the modifications cared about Lou's pet. Lou also wrote Link IIGS (the Mac version for MPW), and I heard that this linker supported RTL files. None of the ORCA languages ever used them. I don't know of anyone who ever did actually implement one. They were, after all, both unneeded and technically inferior to user tools, which do the same thing and do it better. Mike Westerfield
