I see that most of the sites I go to with rom images have > files that end in SHK or SDK. I can't find any files that end in > DSK. These are the type that I need to use with AppleWin. Any > suggestions? Yes. First read the FAQ's. This will give you an idea of how to use an Apple II and/or emulator. Specifically, how to unarchive the various files you will find. It will also point out where to find DSK images too. BTW, SDK files are compressed DSK files. Actually they are compressed images of disks usually made on the real Apple. These can be unshrunk to a disk on either an emulator (disk image file), a real II or a PC (or MAC) disk image. The various Apple II emulators don't use ROM images like most other emulators. They use a copy of the real disks, normally stored in a file on a hard drive. A few of the GS emulators will allow access to a real partition and/or CD. These disk image files are read and written by the emulator, essentially duplicating the real hardware access of the original equipment. Find the CSA2 FAQ here. http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/ Besides this, you will need a method of putting SHK files on a disk image since most are groups of files. I suggest the emulator package Apple Oasis. Besides an excellent emulator, it offers a disk utility which can move files between the host MS systems and Apple II disk images. The most recent version of Oasis can support a full screen mode with Direct Draw and the right hardware. Usually, you just have to try it and see if it works for you. -- Thank you for your time and interest. I hope it was helpful or at least interesting.
