IIgs Infocom Icons (for use with the Lost Treasures LOST1.SYS16 and LOST2.SYS16 interpreters from Big Red) file: InfocomIcons.shk (which may be in InfocomIcons.zip on some sites) When you want to play one of Infocom adventures using a Lost Treasures interpreter, a nice convenience is being able to start a game by just clicking on its icon. The two game icons in the Infocom.icons file descriminate adventures according to subtype. Games runnable via the Standard Interpreter (LOST1.SYS16) show with a green "I"; those runnable only under the Advanced Interpreter (LOST2.SYS16) have a purple "I". Clicking a game's "I" icon automatically launches the associated interpreter and starts the adventure . After downloading, unzip the .zip file if necessary to obtain the file InfocomIcons.shk. Once the .shk file is on your IIgs, use GS-ShrinkIt to get the icon file infocom.icons. To use the icons, copy the icon file to the ICONS folder on the system disk you boot to play the games and edit the "application pathname" part of each icon's attributes using an icon editor like Icon Ed. For a new infocom.icons file, the editor will show these application pathnames: :volname:infocom/lost1.sys16 (for the green icon) :volname:infocom/lost2.sys16 (for the purple icon) If the interpreters are, say, in the folder "infocom" in the main directory of a volume named "Games", then just the "volname" part needs to be changed: :Games:infocom/lost1.sys16 (for the green icon) :Games:infocom/lost2.sys16 (for the purple icon) If the interpreters are in adventures/infocom/ on a volume named "Games, you would have ... :Games:adventures/infocom/lost1.sys16 (for the green icon) :Games:adventures/infocom/lost2.sys16 (for the purple icon) Once each icon's application pathname is set, save the icon file and try out the new icons.
