ORCHIS PALLENS
E: Pale-flowered Orchid
F: Orchis pale
G: Blasses Knabenkraut

This is an orchid of the hills and lower mountains, which is very rare in the plains.

It is the earliest of all Orchis species. Sometimes it unfolds its blossoms in the early april, even before Orchis mascula.

The blossoms have a pale yellow which has given this orchid the name.

Call it difficult in culture. It can be placed in similar biotopes like Orchis mascula, but it seems to need another type of fungus. Growing O. pallens from seeds is almost impossible.
