An impressive orchid of the sunny forests and dry meadows with lime in the soil. The blossoms are white and smell intensely, especially in the night. They are pollinated by various butterflies.

The plant has usually only two oval leaves near the ground, thus the name. The bulbs are pointed. The whole plant can grow a half meter high.

In culture, the plant is only moderately difficult, near the edge of a forest bed or on a dry hill with light shadow it can grow many years.
